Hello Jr. Lifeguards!
We are getting ready for another great summer here at Castaic Lake. The program sessions are almost here! I want to go over a few things that will help with this year's process of Tryouts (only for new JGs or if you missed last year’s program), Application, Uniform Handout, and Permission Slips
TRYOUTS: (Only for new JGs or returning JGs that missed the 2018 Summer Sessions must tryout)
Location of the Tryout:
CASTAIC AQUATICS CENTER
31350 CASTAIC RD. CASTAIC, CA. 91384.
Time: 11:30 – 2:30pm
Dates: May 4th and 5th
The Tryout will consist of: 100 yard swim under 2:30 minutes, 3 minute tread water, and a 10 yard underwater swim.
APPLICATION:
We have a max. of 200 Jr. Lifeguards per session again this year and we will fill up very fast so please make sure you take the time to do the Application correctly. Full Payment or Completed Financial Assistance Form with all tax documents must be turned in at the same time of application.
ONLY RETURNING JGS from last summer –2018 and *SIBLINGS of that JG
*Siblings will still have to tryout and must pass the tryout to complete the Application.
Please fill out the Application just like last year, then print out. Starting April 28th, 2019 8am at the Main Park Office (STATION 1) at Castaic Lake you will be able to turn in your application. This is the building when you first come into the park. Not the Jr. Lifeguard Building (BISC). NO MAIL IN APPLICATIONS WILL BE EXCEPTED THIS YEAR- ALL mail in Apps will be returned to sender.
NEW JGs and JGs that missed the 2018 summer.
Please fill out the Application, print out and bring with you to the TRYOUTs. You must complete and PASS the entire tryout for your application to be accepted. NO registration can happen until the Tryout is passed. You will be given a certification showing that you have passed the Tryout. This certificate must be included with the Application for it to be accepted.
BIRTH CERTIFICATE:
ALL NEW JGS must show Proof of age before applications are accepted. Please show your Birth Certificate to County Personnel when turning in your Application at Castaic Lake. The Birth Certificate will only be used to verify age. (MUST HAVE ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE – NO COPIES)

BISC - Castaic Lake - Lower Lagoon Parking Lot 1
6:30pm - 7:30pm
UNIFORM HANDOUTS:
Uniform Handout Dates and Times:
June 1st and 2nd - 10 am to 2pm
June 10th, 11th and 12th - 3pm to 5pm
All Uniforms will be handed out at the Castaic Lake JR. Lifeguard Headquarters (BISC).
PERMISSIION SLIPS:
We have a lot of trips planned for this summer. All permission slips must be turned in by the first day of the session. We will be going to:
Beach Trip to Ventura State Beach – Day of Waves and Sand.
Competition for 1st Session at Bonelli Park (2nd Session will be host @ Castaic Lake– No Permission Slip Needed)
A permission slip must be turned in for all field trips because we will not be at Castaic those days. ALL JGs are expected to go to all field trips and competitions.
Will Be posted soon on the Website.
Please turn in when uniforms are handed out. PLEASE do not mail or give to the park office when you turn in your application (THEY WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED). ONLY turn in to an Instructor on the first day of your session or at uniform handout.
