Hello Jr. Lifeguards!
We are getting ready for another great summer here at Castaic Lake. The program sessions are almost here! I want to go over a few things that will help with this year's process of Tryouts (only for new JGs or if you missed last year’s program), Application, Uniform Handout, Permission Slips and what is new for the program.
TRYOUTS: (Only for new JGs or returning JGs that missed the 2017 Summer Sessions must tryout)
Location of the Tryout:
CASTAIC AQUATICS CENTER
31350 CASTAIC RD. CASTAIC, CA. 91384.
Time: 9am - 12pm
Dates: April 21st, 22nd May 20th June 2nd, 3rd
The Tryout will consist of: 100 yard swim under 2:30 minutes, 3 minute tread water, and a 10 yard underwater swim.
APPLICATION:
We have a max. of 200 Jr. Lifeguards per session again this year and we will fill up very fast so please make sure you take the time to do the Application correctly. Full Payment or Completed Financial Assistance Form with all tax documents must be turned in at the same time of application.
ONLY RETURNING JGS.
Please fill out the Application on-line just like last year, then print out. Starting April 15, 2018 at the Main Park Office (STATION 1) at Castaic Lake you will be able to turn in your application. This is the building when you first come into the park. Not the Jr. Lifeguard Building (BISC). Mail in Applications will be returned to sender before April 15th 2018. Applications will only be accepted after April 15th.
NEW JGS.
Please fill out the Application on-line, print out and bring with you to the TRYOUTs. You must complete and PASS the entire Tryout for your application to be accepted. NO registration can happen until the Tryout is passed. You will be given a certification showing that you have passed the Tryout. This certificate must be included with the Application for it to be accepted.
BIRTH CERIFICATE: New for this year!
This year, ALL JGS must show Proof of Age before Applications are accepted. Please show your Birth Certificate to County Personnel when turning in your Application at Castaic Lake (a copy is not needed). If you mail in your Application after the April 15th start date, you must provide a copy of your Birth Certificate. Again, ALL JGS MUST SHOW Proof of Age.
UNIFORM HANDOUTS:
Uniform Handout Dates and Times:
June 2nd and 3rd - 9am to 2pm
June 11th, 12th and 13th - 3pm to 5pm
All Uniforms will be handed out at the Castaic Lake JR. Lifeguard Headquarters (BISC).
If you know all your sizes and want to have your bag made and READY TO GO (RTG), please click on the link below. Your uniform will be prepared and put in your bag to make check out quicker.

PERMISSION SLIPS:
We have a lot of trips planned for this summer. All permission slips must be turned in by the first day of the session. We will be going to:
Six Flags Hurricane Harbor – Day of learning more about other lifeguarding jobs while riding water slides.
Beach Trip to Ventura State Beach – Day of Waves and Sand.
Competition for 1st Session at Santa Fe Dam. (2nd Session will be hosted here – No Permission Slip Needed)
All permission slips must be turned in for all field trips because we will not be at Castaic those days. ALL JGs are expected to go to all field trips and competitions.

We will be going back to Hurricane Harbor for a day of fun and see first-hand what other Lifeguard Jobs are available when you are of age to start working. If you are a current season pass holder for Hurricane Harbor, we ask that you please use your pass on the day of the field trip.
